Hello fellow tall ladies! I am excited to be starting my second installment of "5 Questions with Liv Tall." I started this series to feature tall women and highlight their individual stories. This post is with Heather, my friend, fellow tall woman, mom and inventor of the Bergy Bag; a self-insulating bag that looks like your Prada bag, but functions like your Yeti. I mean... how smart is she?? Read below to learn more about this smart, kind, inspiring and funny tall woman!!
LT: Tell me a little about yourself!
H: I am originally from Southern California and moved to Arizona in the 90s to attend ASU. I was part of the .com boom in the Bay Area in the early 2000s and came back to the valley in 2005. I am married to a Canadian and we have an 11-year-old daughter and a doodle named Roady - he is my main man. I always viewed myself as a low-risk tolerance person so the fact that I have owned, operated, and sold a few businesses is funny to me. I guess when I look back it makes sense. I am a self-starter and enjoy the excitement of launching a new idea. I received the best advice from my manager when I was working for a large software company. He used to say to me, "Before you do anything else today get us paid. Find out where that next sale is and move it forward. That's the most important thing you can do for our team." I have applied that way of thinking for the past 25 years and it has served me well. But first, sell. Starting Bergy Bag is Chapter 3 in my career. I've worked for large corporations, owned service-based businesses, and now am passionately launching a product. Starting this venture feels a little out of alignment with my peers. I'll be 50 in 2024 and as I look around, I see most of my friends slowing down their hustle, buying second homes and making "empty nest" plans. Not me, I've slid right back down the ladder only to start the climb once again. A friend of mine spoke some words that resonated with me, "age ambitiously" and when I heard that I was like, "Ooh yeah, that sounds EXACTLY like me". A Bergy Bag is all things I love: fun, purposeful, stylish, and full of adventure.
LT: What do you enjoy most about being Tall?
H: How easily can you move around the kitchen when you don't constantly have to grab a step stool? I mean... My babysitter growing up (MamaD) was a short Italian bundle of love and a pasta-making machine. She called me into the kitchen all the time to grab things down from the top cabinets. As silly as it sounds, that made me feel purposeful. I love doing things for her and me being tall was the perfect for her.
LT: What advice would you give to either yourself or young tall girls today?
H: Stand taller.
LT: What is your favorite item in your closet?
H: My Navy-Blue Liv Tall Bodysuit!
(OK seriously, I did not ask Heather to say that, lol!)
LT: Favorite cocktail or drink?
H: Margarita, salt, rocks. Or a Cosmo, there is no clear winner here.
